We are devoted to promoting "the King of Instruments" as a solo instrument in its own right as well as an instrument capable of performing in a variety of musical contexts.
The Festival is staged every two years - predominantly in the magnificent historic Norman St Albans Cathedral - attracts artists, musicians and performers of the highest calibre from all around the world.
St Albans, England is 30 kilometres north of London.
The Endowment Fund for the International Organ Festival at St Albans
Founded in 1963 by Peter Hurford, internationally renowned concert organist, this biennial competition and festival has not only been a springboard for the careers of some of the world’s finest musicians but provides ten days of dazzling and varied musical entertainment, from chamber music and jazz to large scale orchestral and choral concerts featuring musicians of international standing – a unique combination. The 26th International Organ Festival at St Albans will take place from 7 – 16 July 2011, and the competitions at its core were launched around the world in March this year.
The Festival enjoys a world wide reputation for the high standards and quality of performance which it provides. However, although it is supported by a devoted army of volunteers, the Festival relies heavily on sponsorship, and has no accumulated reserves on which to draw. To secure the long term future of this major competition and music festival, the Directors of the Festival have therefore established an Endowment Fund, for which, as a first milestone, they are looking to raise £250,000.
Foundation Endowment Supporters (minimum donation £5,000) will:
- be acknowledged in the Festival's publicity
- be invited to a reception during each Festival
- receive four top price tickets for a concert of your choice
Premium Endowment Supporters (minimum donation £10,000) will:
- will receive benefits tailored to their individual or corporate needs
