The Organs

The organs featured in the competition and concerts are: the 1962 Harrison & Harrison organ in St Albans Cathedral designed by Ralph Downes and Peter Hurford; the Society's organ built in the style of Andreas Silbermann (c1600) by Peter Collins in 1989, at St Saviour's Church, Sandpit Lane, St Albans; and the Mander organ installed in St Peter's Church, St Albans in 2005.

Details of these organs can be found via the competitions page

In August 2007 the Cathedral organ is being removed to Durham to the workshops of Harrison & Harrison for comprehensive repairs to the whole mechanism of the organ.  You can read a description of the current restoration of the St Albans Cathedral organ, written by Andrew Lucas, Master of the Music.
